Shedd Aquarium
In addition to being one of the world's largest indoor aquariums, Shedd Aquarium is home to around 32,000 animals. There are stingrays that you can feel floating beneath your fingers, sea lions that bark, and a variety of turtles that may be learned about while you are here. A visit to Shedd Aquarium will take you through a kaleidoscope of environments, where you'll see extra species such as penguins, piranhas, sharks, and beluga whales, among other things. Alternatively, you can pay an additional price to take part in specialist experiences such as animal encounters, feeding sessions, and behind-the-scenes tours of the facility.
Although many visitors expressed satisfaction with their time at the aquarium, a few expressed dissatisfaction with the additional prices charged for parking, special displays, and hands-on experiences. For this reason, it is recommended that you purchase upgraded tickets online (general admission tickets are not available online) or arrive early to avoid standing in long lines at the aquarium. The basic ticket grants you entry to the following attractions: Waters of the World, Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising, Wild Reef, Abbott Oceanarium, and Polar Play Zone. Additional attractions are available for purchase. Adults pay $39.95 and children pay $29.95 to enter the grounds. Additional services such as tours, feedings, and interactive animal experiences are available for a cost.
A complimentary Shedd Pass will be provided to those who have a Chicago, IL CityPASS or Go Chicago Card; all ticket holders will have access to toilets, a gift shop, and three cafes. Located in Grant Park's Museum Campus section, between the Field Museum and the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium is a great place to spend an afternoon. The Solidarity Drive & Aquarium bus stop is located near the Roosevelt station on the Green, Orange, or Red L lines, and you may reach there by catching the No. 130 or 146 bus from Roosevelt station. On the Museum Campus, there is also a parking garage for visitors. If you take a Segway tour, you'll very certainly pass by the aquarium as well. Every day of the year, the aquarium is open from 9 a.m to 6 p.m., with the exception of weekdays in winter, when the facility shuts at 5 p.m. More information can be found on the Shedd Aquarium's official website.
