What the Wellness Panel is

The Wellness Panel pairs a trichomoniasis test with three general-health blood and urine tests that a doctor would normally order at a physical: a complete blood count, a urinalysis and a liver function panel. It is for the person who wants the trich question answered and, while they are at the lab anyway, a snapshot of how their body is doing – one visit, one report, no clinic.

It is not a substitute for a full STD panel. It does not test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, herpes or hepatitis; if those are the questions, the 10-Test STD Panel covers them, or call and a care advisor will help you choose.

What each test tells you

Trichomoniasis. The most common curable STD, usually without symptoms, tested by NAAT from a urine sample. It is cured with a short course of medication and is not included in many standard STD panels.

Complete blood count (CBC). Counts your red cells, white cells and platelets. It can flag anemia, signs of infection or inflammation, and some blood disorders, and it gives a physician a baseline to compare against later.

Urinalysis. Checks the urine for blood, protein, sugar, white cells and other markers. It can point to a urinary tract infection, kidney problems or uncontrolled blood sugar, none of which announce themselves early.

Liver function panel. Measures enzymes and proteins the liver produces. Out-of-range values can reflect alcohol, medications, fatty liver, or a viral hepatitis that has not yet been diagnosed – a reason the physician may suggest a hepatitis test as follow-up.

How it works at the lab

One visit: a quick blood draw and a urine sample, no exam. Sign in at the kiosk with your name and date of birth, give both samples, and you are done in about five to ten minutes. The trich test wants the first part of the stream after not urinating for an hour; the technician will tell you how to collect one sample that works for both urine tests. Everything is reported together in your private online account.

Before you go: No fasting and no other preparation for the blood draw. For the urine sample, don’t urinate for about an hour before you go in – the first part of the stream after a gap is what the test needs. Every test we offer is FDA-cleared and run in a CLIA-certified laboratory, the same tests a hospital or doctor’s office would order.

When to test

After your results

If the trich test is positive, a member of our care team calls you, explains the result, and arranges a consultation with a physician who sends a prescription to your pharmacy; avoid sex until treatment is complete and partners have been treated. If any of the wellness values are out of range, the physician walks you through what it means and what, if anything, to do next – often a repeat test or a visit to your regular doctor with the results in hand. A result outside the normal range is a prompt to look further, not a diagnosis on its own – and a normal panel is a snapshot of these three areas today, not a clean bill of health.
